street food

Street food is a big favorite amongst travelers. After all, no matter where you’re heading, you’re guaranteed to run across a vendor or two. And, as is so often the case, street food is full of flavor!

So why not apply that principle to your own camping stove or RV kitchen?

Eating On The Road

It can sometimes be hard to eat properly when you’re on the road, but if you know how to cook something nutritious and delicious in just a few minutes, you’ll soon enjoy camping out a lot more than you used to!

So with that in mind…

Here’s what you need to know about cooking the street food way while traveling.

You Don’t Need Much Equipment!

A camping stove, a pan or two, some knives and forks, and a washing-up bowl – that’s often all the equipment you need to cook popular street food recipes!

And seeing as these items won’t fill up a normal kitchen cupboard, they’ll be super easy to store inside a tent or an RV.

And not only will this save on storage space, but it’ll help with the fuel economy as you travel too!

You’ll Use Many Different Cooking Methods

Thanks to the versatility of street food, you won’t ever need a permanent setup to cook meals for you and your family.

For example, if your stove isn’t big enough for multiple pans, you can dig into some one-pan recipes.

If all you’ve got is a kettle, you can boil off quite a few different street food classics, such as eggs and rice, and simply add spices and sauces on the side.

And even if you don’t have access to any kind of heat source, you’re not stuck.

You can still put together recipes such as ceviche like this from Feasting at Home.

All you need is some juice to marinade it in for a bit to help ‘cook it out and you’ve got a tasty treat for dinner!

You Won’t Need Much Time

Because street food is prepared on the street, the people cooking it don’t have time to waste. They need to get the food onto the disposable plates and out to customers in 5 to 10 minutes flat.

That’s another reason why the street food style could work so well for you.

Camping and road-tripping often don’t leave us much time to stick around for a couple of hours just waiting on a hunk of meat to roast!

Instead, you’ll be able to cut corners. Boil the water before you add anything to it. Keep, small jars and packets of flavoring in your camping pack. Buy ingredients that are already cooked which you’ll just need to either sear off a little or simply reheat.

As long as you can save time cooking it, it’s perfect for your street food recipes.

If you’re a big street food fan, take the concept and apply it to your own travels. It’ll save time and money on the road.
